Amanda Stead, an associate professor in Â鶹ֱ²¥â€™s School of Communication Sciences 
and Disorders, will be recognized by a national speech, language and hearing organization for her “special contributions in higher education.â€
The American Speech Language Hearing Association confers the honor to people deemed to have distinguished themselves as teachers, mentoring or innovators.
Stead, who received a doctorate from Louisiana State University, focuses on the relationship between language, assessment and dementia. In addition to teaching a course in progressive illness and dementia, she teaches Â鶹ֱ²¥ courses in communication and aging, counseling and aphasia.
In 2019, she was awarded the Â鶹ֱ²¥ President's Award for Excellence Graduate Teaching. She is , many related to speech, hearing and aging.
