Communications Science and Disorders Professor Amanda Stead will be honored by the American Speech Language Hearing Association for her special contributions in higher education.

In �鶹ֱ��'s Transgender Voice Program, available through the Pacific Psychology & Comprehensive Health Clinics in Portland and Hillsboro, speech-language pathology students help transgender women learn to modulate their voices to sound more traditionally feminine. “I don’t have to pass, but I want to have the option,” said client Lana “Blue” Zeitler.

Alex (Bing) Marchbanks '14, SLP '18 found her passion for speech-language pathology at Pacific. A scholarship funded by donors helped turn her dreams to reality as she completes her master's degree this spring.

“The No. 1 thing that is lost in aphasia is words,” said Annabelle Watts SLP ’17. “I really hope participants who come here realize there is this gigantic world of communication and that here are all these other ways to facilitate that and have fun and re-engage with life and with their partner.”
