Applied Clinical Psychology Curriculum
Paragraphs

The MA in applied clinical psychology consists of 62 semester credits and is intended to be completed in 2 years of full time study. The program operates on a tri-semester year, with classes from approximately early September until late July. Clinical training may extend beyond term start/end dates.

The first year of the applied clinical psychology program consists of coursework only; whereas the second year consists of a small class load, a clinical practicum, and a research project.

A full listing of degree requirements and courses is available in the .

Practicum

A minimum 700 hour practicum in the second year is required.  This practicum may be served in a variety of community settings, where students will ideally gain experience working with a wide range of client populations, mental health concerns, and intervention modalities. Students receive regular clinical supervision at their community placements and also attend clinical seminar weekly with a MA core faculty member.

Research Project

Students complete either a quantitative thesis or a qualitative evidence-based practice sample. The thesis project is completed individually with a core faculty member as chair. We try to accommodate every student who wants to complete a quantitative thesis, but we cannot guarantee the ability to complete a thesis. The qualitative evidence-based practice sample is a clinical case study completed in conjunction with practicum under the guidance of a core faculty member in a seminar format.
