The end of the school year is upon us, which means packing your things and potentially returning your mailbox key.
Shipping
Mail Services sells boxes and tape if you need to ship things home. This includes the giant boxes that can be used for the in-hall summer storage (two boxes, or one box and one thawed-out mini-fridge). Once you've got things packaged up, you can drop off your boxes with the mail room to be sent via FedEx, UPS, or USPS (post office). If you've already got a shipping label on the box, feel free to drop your package off at the service counter of the mailroom, and we'll make sure it gets picked up by the correct shipper. If you need to purchase a shipping label, we can sell you one once you bring us the package.
Key Return
Once your dorm is all packed up, you might want to return your dorm key. Do not turn in your mailbox key with your dorm key. In fact, you only need to return your mailbox key if you're leaving Pacific entirely. You retain the same mailing address throughout your entire underÂ鶹ֱ²¥ time here, so your mailbox doesn't change when you switch dorms. This includes if you move out of the dorms and into off-campus housing; you still retain an on-campus mailbox. But if it is time to leave for good, please bring your mailbox key down to the Mail Room and turn it in to us, NOT to student housing with your dorm key. If you come by during our open hours, you can come in and fill out one of the return slips, handing your key directly to a student worker. If you're not able to stop by while we're open, we keep envelopes with attached slips on the counter outside the mail room, across from the mail drop (next to the Radio Station window). Just fill it out, put your key in the attached envelope, and drop the whole thing in the outgoing mail slot next to the door.
Forwarding
We can also forward your mail while you're gone. You can fill out a to let us know where to send your mail while you're gone. You'll indicate in the form if it's a temporary request(you want your mail forwarded for just the summer, or maybe you're going overseas next semester) or a permanent change (graduating, matriculating, or withdrawing). Please note that not everything can be forwarded; while we'll automatically send along anything we can, Amazon and FedEx packages cannot be forwarded. We'll reach out if we receive anything we're unable to forward, asking what you'd like us to do with it. And if you're going overseas next semester, also know that we cannot forward things internationally. You'll want to put down the address of someone who's able to receive the package for you (and send it along to you).
